Knightsbridge, Bond Street & Savile Row

Many of the city’s luxury stores can be found in Knightsbridge, situated to the south of Hyde Park, where the legendary Harrods department store is based. In 2000, the department store gave up its Royal Warrant, unlike the many stores in Bond Street, which are proud of their status as Suppliers to the Court. On this road, which runs from Oxford Street to Piccadilly, the famous auction house, Sotheby’s, rubs shoulders with Tiffany & Co., Burberry, Jimmy Choo and other names synonymous with modern elegance. Whether your idea of style is epitomised by Cary Grant, Fred Astaire, Mick Jagger or Will Smith, there’s only one address to go to: Savile Row. Nicknamed The Golden Mile, this street running parallel to Regent Street is famous for its high-end tailors. If you’re after a more punky look, head to Kings Road in Chelsea. The spirit of The Clash may be a distant memory, but Vivienne Westwood keeps the non-conformist traditions of this trendy neighbourhood alive and well.
