McCord Museum

Right in the heart of the centre of Montreal, the McCord Museum, named after its founder, is dedicated to Canadian heritage and history. It is home to all sorts of textiles and costumes, as well as a lovely ethnology and archaeological collection focusing on the history of indigenous Americans. This museum also boasts an amazing photographic archive documenting the history of Canada and Montreal, and in particular the photographs of William Notman taken in the city between 1840 and 1935. The architecture is impressive in its own right, as the old and the newer building are connected by the sculpture by Pierre Granche, Totem urbain/histoire en dentelle.
