Medersa Ben Youssef
It was in honor of a sultan from the Almoravid dynasty, Ali Ben Youssef, that this Islamic College was built in 1570. It neighbors the Mosque of the same name, and was one of the most famous Madrasa in North Africa, offering different courses, including theology. Restored several times during the second half of the 20th century, it has lost none of its former glory, although it has now been deconsecrated and is open to everyone. Discover the impressive floral patterns, cedar decorations, Mashrabiyas, columns and exquisite ceilings; all sorts of representations of some enchanting Arabic-Andalusian architecture spread over more than 1,600m2.
