The Markets of Mumbai

Stalls bursting with color, spicy scents, and comical scenes of everyday life: an unforgettable experience awaits visitors at Bombay/Mumbai’s markets. We recommend arriving early and employing the services of a local guide. Not far from Victoria station is Crawford market, the city’s oldest, which is a maze of all kinds of small trades and stalls: chai, fruit and vegetables, meat, spices etc. Mangaldas market, on the other hand, specialises in textiles. A colorful array of cottons, silks and wool adorn thousands of stalls under a covered marketplace spread over more than a hectare.
