The Prince of Wales Museum and Bombay High Court

Also known as the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Vastu Sangrahalaya Museum, the Prince of Wales Museum was built in Colaba in 1905 in honour of the Prince’s first visit to India. Admire its central dome designed by George Wittet, the architect who also designed the India Gate. Inside, highlights include miniatures, sculptures, jade and jewels, European paintings and taxidermied animals, including a white Bengal tiger. Continue for 500 metres and you’ll discover the Bombay High Court, the oldest in India. The building, guarded by the statues of the Justice and Grace, is a shining example of colonial architecture.
